With regular checkups, it becomes easy to detect oral cancer at an early stage. Oral cancer growth is quickly detectable and immediate screening and treatment can save your life. A few dentists may utilize extra tests to help in diagnosing a portion of abnormal cells in your mouth.

Symptoms of Oral Cancer

Here are some of the symptoms of oral cancer screening. These are not definite indicators of oral cancer screenings but if you feel any of these problems, tell it to your dentist. They will conduct a thorough check-up and will confirm it all for you. Some of the symptoms will include:

  • Loss of feeling in your mouth, face, or neck area
  • Chronic sore throat and hoarseness
  • Ear pain
  • A feeling that something is stuck in the back of your throat
  • Swelling, lumps, rough patches, on any area inside your mouth
  • Unexplained bleeding inside your mouth
  • Sores on the mouth, face, or neck that bleed easily and don’t heal within 2 weeks
  • Difficulty swallowing, chewing, speaking, moving your jaw, or moving your tongue

What can lead to oral cancer?

It is important to visit your dentist at least twice a year so as to keep your mouth healthy. There is no definite time period within which a dentist will conduct oral cancer screenings but they might check that during routine evaluations. Things that might increase your exposure to oral cancer screening are:

  • If you smoke a lot or consume tobacco
  • If you drink alcohol on a daily basis
  • If you have been diagnosed with oral cancer previously
  • If you spend too much time under the sun, it might raise the chances of cancer on your lips
  • Chewing beetle leaves and tobacco can also lead to oral cancer

It is a known fact that prevention is always better than cure. You should visit your dentist at least twice a year and if you have any of the symptoms talk to your dentist. Also, make sure to avoid the things that can potentially cause oral cancer.

I went to Vital Dental with a broken tooth with an exposed nerve. Had no insurance so I was nervous. Was in extreme pain and was seen as soon as possible. The staff helped me to cope with the pain and then Dr Williams and his assistant worked magic to stop the pain and removed the broken tooth. The price was the cheapest in town for this fantastic service. I recommend this place 10000%

I am very comfortable with the Dentist and staff and recommend this office!

It was a pleasure visiting Vital Dental. Had been there before and decided not to go back but found that there is new staff and just the sweetest and very professional group of people. I feel very confident about my care now because of the reassurance I feel. Just the way my plan of action was explained I feel I have gone to the right place. Thank you.
